Dave (Uncle Dave) Cameron

Dave got into the sport thanks to Nic McKirdy about 4 years ago. Once he tried it, he thought it was the greatest speed rush he'd had without having a motor attached.

He appreciates all of the assistance and support from Nic McKirdy, Phill Champion and others. Even though he had only raced a couple of events Launch and 2013 Cherry Bomb finished 2nd in Classic and 6th in Streetluge.

He says that the comradeship is second to none and very special, even with people he has never met yet. Dave rides a Manowar Buttboard built by Phill Champion. His streetluge he built and fabricated with help from Phill Champion and Nic McKirdy.

He did himself proud again at the 2014 BTS- Cherry Bomb grabbing 3rd place in Classic Luge, well done Dave.

Cox's river is his favourite run at the moment, but says he can’t wait to get up to hit Mt Stuart for Beat the Bastard in 2014. To be honest I can’t wait to have a ride with Dave either.

Declan Gregory

This talanted  young rider has been riding buttboard for seven years and racing for five.

Declan is a nice young fella that loves the sport and has shown the old man up once or twice already.

Especially at BTB 2013, he left his Dad behind on at least three occasions I saw, I guess that is what happens when you can actually stay on your sled.

Declan already has his own signature model Buttboard available from Custom Boards Mark Gorman. He got started by going on a tandem ride with his Dad on an old OBR Boom Luge at the tender age of six months.

Declan has just picked up another Junior Classic Race win at the 2014 BTS Cherry Bomb.

Soon to be on a Streetluge as well, keep an eye out for Declan, as I am sure he will be getting to as many events as he can, now, and well into the future.

Tim (Riff Raff) Gregory

Riding Streetluge since 1999, Racing since 2008. Tim would have to be one of the most recognisable Australian Streetlugers around.

Nick-Named “Riff Raff” for reasons I still can’t quite work out.

With the support of his family and friends he has been an Event organiser for the Bomb The Snowies- Cheery Bomb Gravity Festival for the past four years. An event that has been accepted and supported by the locals, to the point, that the Cooma Information centre uses a Video of the 2013 race to help promote the area.

Tim wouldn’t divulge his favourite hill, but I am sure that if you went down to ride with him, it would be one of the hills you would be riding. Tim said that BTB and the ride down Mt Stuart rocks. He does say that the Cherry Bomb is his favourite Race, which is understandable and no surprise.

Tim & Tammy his wife can now add another successful event to their list, BTS Cherry Bomb 2014 was a great success. Tim is always happy to chat and promote the sport any chance he gets. Even though he looks cute and cuddly, he is a very competitive rider on the track, so when you bump into him make sure you are not on the track.

Home Grown Steetlugers

Shane Madeley

I have been riding for just over 4 years. I mainly use an 8 wheel Sturge luge with Randal Rollers, 10mm axles and  Centrax wheels. I also have a TRS and a boom sled which I have recently acquired, these are both 6 wheel set ups.  Favourite hills ridden are

Mt. Stuart, and Mt. Panarama. I am always on the look out for a new hill to ride & really enjoy sharing the experience with anyone that wants to join me. I especially love the GOFR crew and the many trips we have had.

Andrew (Sakamoto) Smith

Sakamoto has been in the scene since the 90's. A true gentleman of the sport, he is always willing to share his experience and wisdom with others. He has ridden in the X Games, and has played on some of the best tracks in the U.S.A. and Australia. Starting out on a Home Made Streetluge he eventually ended up riding a Rogers Brothers Sled in a 6 wheel set up with Randal Roller Trucks  at Bathurst in 2008.

Adrian (Ado) Alderson

Ado started riding back in early 2008 following prostate cancer surgery and doctor's orders not to ride stand up anymore.  He is the owner of Cre8ive Sk8 in Townsville, and is the best guy to talk to when you want to buy anything Streetluge or skateboard related. He has 14 sleds at the moment, 9 of which he rides regularly. Having this many sleds and riding so many different set ups, helps him give honest advice to anyone who asks how a particular combination works. If he doesn't have that particular setup, he can build it and test it for them or let them come and try it.

An avid supporter & participant of many Streetluge Events over the years, he has gained a reputation for being generous and encouraging.

He is also the face and the main driving force behind the 'Beat the Bastard Charity Ride' and has a great support team of people that also share his passion for this event. After 5 years this event is now an International Class Freeride Event that attracts more and more riders each year.

Graham (Grits) Brittain

Grits is without a doubt, one of Australia's best Streetluge Riders. Having won the Newton Nation's Round of the World Titles in April, Malanda Streetluge Final, BSL Challenge, Collingrove Cup and placing at other events, he really has shown he is a force to be reckoned with.  Ado and Clay Gibblett helped him take the plunge into this sport in 2007, after he suffered a downhill skating injury.  Asking him to tell us his favourite hill, is like us asking what his favourite colour is, but Mt Stuart and a few others stand out.

His favourite riding set up is the one that got him the top spot on the podium at Bathurst this year, a Rogers Bros. Sled with Randal trucks and 83mm Centrax wheels. It is the most reliable and comfortable sled he owns, which he says, is like riding a couch.

Some of his favourite riding sessons include, dawn runs down a range up in Cairns, starting at the top in the dark and finishing as the sun comes up. GOFR tours, including the trip down to Bomb the Snowies with the whole crew, in operation Suprise Sakamoto.

Finally Ado's 50th birthday where they tested Mt Stuart to see if it was worthy of a free ride, which led them to  hold the first 'Beat the Bastard' charity ride.

Nic ( Sidecar) McKirdy

Nic is probably one of Australia's best travelled riders. He first discovered streetluge in 2008 after seeing ads on tv for Newtons Nation. Coming from a motorsport background, he thought it would be worth a try. He made contact with a few riders in his area, tried it and was hooked. He bought himself a buttboard and started riding.

In 2010 he bought his first streetluge, and headed for his first overseas race at Kozakov in the Czech Republic. 2011 he returned to Europe to race at both Kozakov and Insul in Germany and competed in both streetluge and classic luge at these events. 2012, he placed third in buttboard at the Hot Heels World Cup event in South Africa.

Sidecar's favourite hill is Kozakov for being long, fast and technically challenging , along with the party they throw it is hard to pass. He has a few favourite hills for different reasons. He has been on a few trips with the GOFR’s in North Queensland, and enjoys them as they are always memorable and something to look forward to.

Nic says his collection of boards is growing, but his TikiBoards Flying Dentist Signature model is his favourite. He travelled with the 'Flying Dentist' himself in both 2010 and 2011 and feels privileged to own one . Nic's latest luge came from 'Victims of Gravity' in Queensland.

His gear of choice includes Arcticboyz Leathers and the yellowest everything else he can find.

Nic wrapped up the 2014 Race Series as the National Champion in both the Street & Classic Luge disciplines at Noosa Pro Am .

He won the final in Streetluge and podiumed  second in Classic which was enough to get him the titles.

Well done Nic, you must be so proud having won the Double Crown
